The version of minitest provided by this package breaks the test/unit version bundled with the Ruby interpreter. Requiring "test/unit" with the ruby-minitest installed causes error messages like: Warning: you should require 'minitest/autorun' instead. Warning: or add 'gem "minitest"' before 'require "minitest/autorun"' /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/test/unit.rb:1:in `' MiniTest::Unit::TestCase is now Minitest::Test. From /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/test/unit/testcase.rb:8:in `' /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/test/unit.rb:676:in `': undefined method `_run_suite' for class `Test::Unit::Runner' (NameError) from /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/test/unit.rb:261:in `' from /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/test/unit.rb:15:in `' from /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/test/unit.rb:7:in `' from /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb:55:in `require' from /usr/lib/ruby/2.1.0/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb:55:in `require' The problem is due to the fact that the interpreter's version of test/unit is a compatibility layer with the version of minitest bundled with the interpreter, which is hidden once the ruby-minitest package is installed. The version of this package is not compatible with this compatibility layer. To remedy this problem, install the ruby-test-unit package, providing a more complete version of test/unit. This will hide the interpreter's version of test/unit, and avoid to rely on minitest. -- Cédric Boutillier Wed, 29 Apr 2015 10:06:57 +0200
